I'm sure the doctor's are not as well off in your country. I could not imagin spending all that money and time on medical school and doing the operations for free.

reply

Sorry, but taxes in the original posters country are most likely somewhere around the 25% range, that is why the medical is "free" but your still paying for it!

Your point?

In the US, Federal income tax alone is over the 33% mark for all but the lowest income levels.

$7000 That is CHEAP my twins were born early and my bill was a combined $1,250,000.00! Fortunatly we have medical insurance but our co-pay was a whopping $10,000.00 (5,000 out-of-pocket limitation per child)

Capitalism is king in America and Doctors and hospitals are here to make a profit. Every uninsured patient raises the cost to the rest of us. They are going to make up losses any way they can.

Donald your twins' birth cost you over a million dollars? I'm sorry, but that sounds ludicrous

Actually it's the cost of malpractice insurance and the HMO's that make everything so expensive not necessary the Dr's or the Hospitals themselves.

Don't forget that the first priority of any insurance company is the stockholders and their dividends — not the policyholders and their coverage.
