(SPOILERS)

The bad guys' scheme:

Step 1, Murder Jodie Foster's husband so she'll have to accompany his body and coffin on an airplane, Step 2, Kidnap Jodie's daughter after all the other passengers have fallen asleep and pray that none of them wakes up while we're doing so, Step 3, COUNT ON THE FACT THAT NONE OF THE OTHER PASSENGERS WILL HAVE NOTICED THE LITTLE GIRL EARLIER IN THE NIGHT -- IN FACT LET'S STAKE THE ENTIRE SUCCESS OF OUR PLAN ON THIS NEAR-IMPOSSIBILITY. ANY QUESTIONS? GREAT! LET'S GET TO WORK!

Jesus Christ...

FLIGHT PLAN did more than just ask you to lighten up and suspend your disbelief, which you have to do with most thrillers. This went way beyond that. This was a motion picture studio telling you: "Hi. We here at Touchstone think that you, the paying audience, are a bunch of idiots -- seriously, we believe you're clinically retarded -- and we've made a movie just for you!"

It was insulting.

And the plan can only work if Jodie's character doesn't reveal to the captain she's unaware of anything about ransom money. The cast is way better than the material (Sarsgaard makes a great villain), but as mother-protecting-her-daughter-thrillers go, "Panic Room" is way better.

Good point. The cast is wonderful, the material... execrable. And that's actually being kind.

Um, how many children/people go missing in real life every year with no one noticing? Next to the original Bourne, this is the BEST *and* most well-plotted thriller of the last decade.

YES IT IS!!!
I have just wasted 90 minutes of my life watching this, how on earth did they get such a good cast for a film written by a monkey!!!
