Major Flaw with Other People's Children

Maybe something is different with the units for blood glucose levels across the pond but in tonight's episode (Season 7 episode 6), the child was in ketoacidosis, had been dehydrated and smelled fruity. All signs of someone with undiagnosed diabetes. However, Doc Martin tested his blood to be 29 and gave him an insulin shot. 29 is extremely low (80 is the normal low extreme) and giving someone in hypoglycemic shock insulin would, most likely, kill him. Should have stated his insulin level was 500+ as that is what would happen if the glucose is allowed to build in his system...unless, like I said, there are different units in the United Kingdom.

Units are different. See here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0408381/board/nest/253723901

No tears please, it's a waste of good suffering.

I love the comment by karzipan in that thread (which I couldn't possibly repeat, but it's there for the reading). 

Simply put, if the show gives what seems to be a low number (such as 29) multiply that by 18. That number would then be accurate to US glucose meters. There is a difference in - I believe it's units and density but I don't offhand recall at the moment.
