I have a question about the movie Transamerica: are the main characters Bree and Toby bisexual? I mean bREE had a girlfriend when was a man, and she when become a woman she seemed interested in a guy the movie. And Toby, Bree's son sleeps with a man in the movie (Though he is a prostitute.). And he seen talking to a girl named Taylor. So are Bree and Toby straight, lesbian, or bisexual?

Very apparently bisexuals. OR, Pansexuals. The movie did not quite sort that difference out.
A bisexual are someone that specifically are attracted to males and females, and a Pansexual are someone that simply do not care what gender the person they become interested in are, or, how that person expresses that gender, wheras a bisexual often do.
It may seem as being the one and the same thing, but there actually are a difference.
In either case, the movie did not specify that, but it was apparent that they both had attraction abilities to people of more than just one gender.
I believe Bree and Toby, like the other poster, are either bisexual or pansexual.
The only time we see Toby having sex with men though is when he is paid for it, but he seems to have no problem doing it, and Bree had a girlfriend when she was a man, but she refers to the thing as "tragically lesbian" that it didn't seem straight, so it is never confirmed when she becomes a full woman whether she is a lesbian, heterosexual or interested in both.

I don't believe Bree was Bisexual at all, she claimed she was a virgin and even admitted to the therapist that the one experience that she did have was very much like a lesbian experience. I assumed it was before Bree had sorted out what was happening in her head and was trying to fulfill societies norm for sexuality. It takes trans people sometime to figure out what is going on. I believe Bree was a female (albeit only in her head for that time being) that was attracted to a male, so straight. I think Toby's situation wasn't spelled out enough to determine what he preferred.
shareI could easily have seen Toby as straight. He only seems to have sex with guys for money, and we only see him making out with women of his own free will. That conversation with Bree where she scolds him for having sex with people without an emotional connection (if I'm remembering right) is a good argument for him being bi though (IMO). It would have been an odd emphasis to make if he was only attracted to women; it seems to imply that Toby *could* have fallen in love with all those men, he just didn't and he's being scolded for having sex anyway. (And while Toby himself doesn't say the line, he makes no objection to it.) If he were straight, the emphasis would probably have been on why he is degrading himself by "whoring his body around" when he doesn't even enjoy it.
Bree seems somewhat prudish around the topic of sex in the movie. Perhaps because of the association of a high sex drive with masculinity, perhaps because of her genetalia which is causing her a lot of dyphoria (probably the latter), but honestly I could even buy her as an asexual.
I think in both cases, their sexuality was deliberately left ambigous. It would have been very easy to mention, and people tend to make a point of doing things like that. Maybe the ambiguity is somehow related to the transgendered theme, where identity is fluid and never what you think it is. I'm not sure.
She was playing the role of a prudish church lady, remember.
I've heard it said by some that some actors, both female and male, who engage in homosexuality in porn for pay often start to become bi/homo themselves.
Personally I believe Toby was not naturally bisexual instead the sexual abuse from his stepfather led him towards the lifestyle of having sex for money with males and gay porn. As for Bree, I feel that she always saw herself as female in her mind therefore she was straight when she was attracted to males. Her one sexual experience with a woman which resulted in Toby's brith was more of a lesbian experience because again Bree always felt in her mind as a woman and never agreed with her physical male body.
