Where does Bree live in the beginning?

Which state does Bree live in at the start of the film and what is the route they take across the whole film? Thanks

She lives in Los Angeles, CA. They drive from NYC to LA. Scenes took place in Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

The scenes in New Mexico and Arizona were amazing in the movie, especially that rock pool thingy.

If I remember the DVD commentary correctly, in reality, the house Bree is coming out of in the beginning is a guest house the director's parents own in Arizona, and the house with Bree's parents is his parent house also. So apparently both on these houses are on the same property, and one is not actually in Los Angeles and the other in Arizona.
