Did they pull enough has-beens out of their ass for this?

Why not add Scott Baio & Barry Williams to the mix?

gee, the black guy from law and order....who was in the original cast of Rent?

reply

You know, "the black guy from Law & Order" has a name...Jesse L Martin. And he was in the original, Tony-award winning original production of Rent, which later garnered a Pulitzer Prize for Drama...

And the people who you call hasbeens have just been doing something other than massive commercial projects. Jane Krakowski, for example, has been performing in critically acclaimed Broadway shows, such as Nine. Just because you don't see her on some sitcom every week doesn't mean she's a hasbeen...she's just above the pettyness of TV sitcoms.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...may I get in your eye?

First off, Kelsey Grammar's theatrical credits include starring in a concert version of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, which ANY musical theater lover can tell you demands at least a GOOD voice...
And you didn't even mention the fantastic British performers making an appearance: Ruthie Henshall, who starred in Chicago on Broadway and in London, and who's one of the London Musical theater's leading stars, is Scrooge's Mother... and for Phantom Of The Opera fans, Dave Willets and Claire Moore who've starred in the show, as well as the dynamic Linzi Hateley of the ill-fated musical version of Stephen King's Carrie. American theatrical great Brian Bedford also co-stars. So sorry... this show WAS pretty draggy, but for any lover of theater- Oh, What A Cast!!!

At least all these people can sing. It won't be an afront to the ears. Also, the composers of the songs are both really good. I'm trying to be positive here.

Barry Williams is in the live version, not the movie, the people in the movie are largely stage performers, and not many are has beens, I would say you don't really know what you are talking about.

reply

Are you retarded? All of those actors can SING. Which is important for a MUSICAL MOVIE. Most of these people, like Jesse and Jane (who I share a vocal coach with in NYC) are EXTREMELY talented singers AND names that people will recognize. Fraiser just ended it's season and Jane won a frikin tony award. I just dont think you know anything.

While, admittedly, every cast member had some sembalence of Singing talent (except Tiny Tim). Jane and Jason sounded very nice, especally. My biggest gripe was with the English Accents. It sounded like they learned English accents from Keanu Reeves in Dracula.

Not to mention the banal lyrics.
