Isn't this made by the same people who did Jumanji??

They should have just called this Jumanji 2: Space Adventure if it's made by the same people

it is made by the same people, and when I first saw the trailer I thought it was a rip off and then it said "from the creators of Jumanji" and I just sat back and said, okay whatever...

It's not Jumanji 2, because it's not from the same dimension as Jumanji.
It doesn't use the same game, and so calling it Jumanji two would confuse kids who never saw it before and may never will.
It's possible that the games were created by different people in the stories. Or maybe one person made multiple games and spread them around the globe. But since this new film is a science fiction film, it is kinda odd for them to be very much connected or even created in the same decade. Maybe someone figured out how Jamunji was created and was able to make their own game with a theme that is more interesting to them.

The source material for Jumanji and Zathura each come from books by Chris van Allsburg, who also did The Polar Express.

However, the creative teams behind the two films were completely different, so this wasn't really a sequel as such...it was more like a different story from the same realm.

Next on Lifetime: "Why Men Are Scum and How to Attract One."

The original story is a direct sequel to the first Jumanji in the fact the main characters in Zathura appear in the end of the Jumanji story and even mention Jumanji in that one.

In some cases you may want to consider this the sequel to Jumanji but it has stripped anything truly in relation to Jumanji from it, so including it in the title really would only cause confusion for those unaware of it being a sequel.

But the basic thing to know here is that in this "world" there are some really messed up board games out there.
