Tuff annoyed the absolute crud out of me.

I get that she is the writer of the story, so this is all from her perspective. I also get that her father was useless, but her incessant whining grated at me the whole movie.

I agree with you, however Tuff was probably furious with her father for his failings and thought her mother deserved better from him.

I thought Tuff was great. She was strong and wasn't afraid to speak up. And, from her, we got a little insight about Evelyn and what she thought about her life.
