What is your favorite book in the Little House series? Mine is The Hard Winter.

I like These Happy Golden Years also - actually I like all the South Dakota books better than the first ones.

Loving them all as much as I do, it's hard to chose one favorite.
But I think I'd have to go with Big Woods. It strikes me as being the most "realistic" of the books. The girls act like real children, fighting with each other over who is prettier and wanting to play more than help with chores.
I also love all of the Little House books. As far as all the television series and mini series I've seen, I'm not impressed. None of them do justice to the books of the brilliant Mrs. Wilder. My mother named me after Laura Ingalls Wilder and read the books to me as a child. When I learned to read by myself I read them again and even read the books about Laura's daughter, Rose Wilder Lane. What I would REALLY like to see is a special about the Little house books done by American Experience. I think that show would give the books the respect they deserve.

My favorite book is On the Banks of Plum Creek. I loved it. But I haven't read the ones about her mother or grandmother or great-grandmother yet. I can't wait though.
