In the books Edwards isn't an old guy with a beard. He's described as a young bachelor. Even so, in the old series Michael Landon cast his friend Victor French as Edwards, who was visually wrong for the part but did a good job. In the new series, they cast an old guy with a beard too. Even though he's the comic relief, doesn't he look and sound a lot like Charles Manson?
shareI really don't see the guy who plays Mr. Edwards as being that old. he looks like he is in his 30s. Having the beard does make him look older though.

The actors playing Edwards and Ingalls are roughly the same age, and just a few years older than I am. So no, they are both VERY, VERY YOUNG! I hadn't seen the Manson resemblance until now, but yes, with the beard, I can see that....
