CUSTER.....DEAD?!?!?! ?!
I didn't see a link to the goofs for this film and I don't think I have the authority to add to it so I'll post it here.
In Independence, a guy talking to Charles says that the Indians are on the warpath and that they killed Custer and 2000 others.
The Custer Massacre was on July 25, 2876. This story happened about 1873.
Let's see....
The Ingalls were in Walnut Grove in 1874 AFTER they left Kansas.
The following year they moved to Bur Oak, Iowa (not in the books) where Grace was born.
And then back to Walnut Grove for a short spell.
When Little Big Horn occurred they were either in Walnut Grove or De Smet or somewhere between.
Bottom line: Little Big Horn did NOT happen during the time period of the book, "Little House On the Prairie"
Also, every July the town of Walnut Grove presents a Laura Ingalls Wilder pageant on Plum Creek: http://www.walnutgrove.org/festival.htm
I saw it ten years ago and I'm hoping to see the play this year again. I guess it changes somewhat every year.
Take care.
