the most pretenteous drivel i have ever seen

this is a satire, we get it, it's a "serious" satire... but it's such a childish satire that uses imagry and words that are so obvious and shallow in their symbolism. it has too many plot holes and half the actors look more confused than i am.
I'm sorry, i really wanted to like this movie, heard it was good and looked like a promising political satire, turned out to be a satire with the most juveline insight i have ever seen. Richard Kelly need to grow up and do another one.

It's pretentious... also you seem not to understand the definition

I don't see how you can call a movie full of SNL veterans and The Rock pretentious. Silly, messy, sure… But not pretentious.

U gotta read the first two stories. This is part 3 of a graphic novel trilogy written by Richard Kelly

reply

Actually, no. A movie should be able to stand on its own. I shouldn't have to do homework in order to possibly enjoy a movie.

Agreed!

Ambition + box office failure are NOT = Pretentiousness.

can you give me a few examples of such "shallow symbolism" in this movie and also provide examples of deep or i don't know profound symbolism?

reply
