Unbelievable Trap...Possible Spoilers

I'm a huge fan of this film but there was always a scene in it that did not ring true to me.When the villains spring the trap at the dance they bring down security gates on the doorways.With all of the super powered teens at the dance there should have been a number of them that would not have found the gates an obstacle.Also,the front doors did not appear to be locked or blocked off in any way,how come nobody fled through them?

Panic? I dunno. It is a rather big plothole.

Supermodels...spoiled stupid little stick figures mit poofy lips who sink only about zemselves.

If you are in a high school full of superpowered kids, you probably make the security doors resistant to superpowered kids.

What about the walls then? Will had no trouble crashing through them in the finale.

perhaps they thought everyone would be zapped with the ray before there were any major escapes, though Will's friends did manage to get out.
