I caught the first 5 minutes on HBO one night but it was around 2 am and i had to go to bed.....Id like to watch it in the sober light of day but the shyt was just tripping me out....is it better to be high? I mean, thats how it felt with Requiem.
shareI think the movie is amazing either way. Of the people I know who have seen it, the ones who have experience with weed or psychedelics seemed to rate the movie higher, but as for actually being under the influence while watching it, didn't seem to matter.
Start off sober, then if you feel the urge, toke up?
Watching either this film or Requiem for a Dream while high would be ironic.

shareWhen I say irony, I'm referring more to the definition talking about the opposite of an expected outcome. For an anti drug movie, I'd expect that not many people would get high watching it. For me, hearing about people getting smashed while watching the film is ironic.
It's a paradox as well.
I was stoned watching the first half and the changing-person effect was mesmerizing, to some extent even disorienting and baffling. While sober it didn't strike me much at all.
That said, most everything takes on a different nature while I'm high, but some things are simply more vibrant while high than others. Fear and Loathing for example, IMO being high is like 3D glasses for that movie.
Are you daft? Why would you want to watch a movie while being high?
shareHi there, no idea if anyone will read this but the first time I watched it with my then boyfriend (now husband) I was high. We had wanted to see it for the longest time and I don't think either of us realized that it was essentially about drugs. Anyway, we smoked pot before watching it and I didn't understand any of it!! (I tended to become more spaced out while on green than focused unlike my husband...so he understood all of it.) Anyway, my point being is that I saw it again recently sober (don't smoke anymore :D ) and I basically understood everything this time around, especially since half the movie focuses on being totally out of your mind on drugs and the various escapades that ensue!! Hope that this may answer any questions.

some of my friends wont watch it if they are not high but love it when they are.
personally, i watch this one sober, freaks me out a bit high but for some people they like watching movies like this high, if i want to watch a movie high i would either watch a Judd Apatow comedy, something cool by the Coens or a Tarantino movie. something fun.
this movie isnt fun its just strange and depressing.
but if you watch the movie and dont really get it, i would recommend a re-watch high. personally i tend to get totally absorbed in a good movie when stoned and pick up...every...little...thing.

I can't seem to watch it sober, I love watching it high though. The suits the police wear lol.
