Is it just me or does this movie look like a badly drawn comic book?

Everything about it, the floaty animation, the undetailed art. It's all so cheap looking.

I personally thought it was 50/50. At the start I thought It looked amazing, but then towards the end it started to look less impressive, like the people doing the rotoscoping started to get bored or something. Still thought it looked good and enjoyed the movie though.

The film was shot out of order (it's unusual to find a film shot sequentially), with the first thing being shot the part where Arctor's car is broken down at the side of the road. I knew what the last thing was, too, but can't remember off the top of my head. Anyway, after filmed, edited, and locked, it was sent to the rotoshop team. So they wouldn't have gotten bored by the end of the film, as it wasn't done "in order". I thought the animation was evenly handled and consistent, but that's my perspective.

Just you. The animation was pretty amazing when you consider that the characters' mannerisms were so realistic yet the artwork was so comic-book-like that you couldn't be sure if it was all hand-drawn or edited from video (before you find out it was Rotoshoped).

It took getting used to, but I was grateful for seeing a film that tried to do something really different. For some strange reason I kept thinking about Ralph Bakshi all through this thing and what he had done with "American Pop". I think the result with "American Pop" was done better. I hope there is a trend with visual effects like this. I enjoyed watching it.
