What? haha, I have no idea what you're trying to say. Perhaps you should learn to type before you attempt to reply. And it damn well shouldn't have taken you thirty minutes to notice it was animated, if your that stupid, you shouldn't be watching this film. oh, and how old are you, mate? twelve? thirteen maybe?

i dont give a sh!t what you think, just because i didn't come to IMDB before watching the film and seeing that the genre is animation, doesn't mean sh!t...btw the movie fücking sucked, you probably liked this garbage you toaster eating scumbag sack of dog sh!t

reply

Toaster eating? bravo dickhead, where'd you come up with that one. Dude, you shouldn't need to come to IMDb before watching the film in order to tell that it's in freakin' animation. But whatever that's not the point, the point is; it took you THIRTY fücking minutes to realize. Do you have bad eyes, mate? Did you forget to wear your glasses? Please tell me it's something like that, cause if not...shame.

Animation is a genre, yeah...

It's like a party in my mouth ...and everybody's puking.

reply

Well yeah, of course animation is a genre. I know that, that wasn't the point. The point was; if I, and probably you as well, were to put in this film, it wouldn't matter if we knew the film was animated or not. Why? Because, the bloody film is animated, you can see that it's animated. I knew nothing of the film before I saw, except the fact that it was based on a novel Phillip K. Dick, I didn't know who was in it, or that it was animated. But the minute I saw one of characters I realized it was animated. It's not bloody-well hard.

No man, animation is NOT a genre. It is a medium of storytelling.

If you consider animation a genre then you have live-action as another one. Which doesn't actually make complete sense. It's like that classification of memory into RAM (Random Access) and ROM (Read Only). Doesn't make complete sense. If you're going to classify based on access, then Random Access (RAM) and the other one should be Sequential Access (SAM) and Read Only is opposite Read/Write.

Similarly, genres are comedy, action, drama, thriller, horror. Animation, live-action are methods with which you bring a story in those genres to your audience.

It's like there's a party in my mouth and everyone's throwing up.

It might have to do with the avatars that people walked around in. It may have looked silly if they did it in a live action film.

Exactly my thoughts.

When I saw Waking Life I gave Linklater a little bit of leeway for using this seizure-inducing crappy animation, but I really hoped I'd never see it again. Now I didn't realize A Scanner Darkly was animated as well before it started or I might not have bothered. There's really no reason for it! After all, most if not all of the animation should be automated post-effects. Just annoying and really detracts from the story. Linklater's Slacker and Dazed and Confused were such better films that didn't rely on these stupid techniques to make up for the lack of emotional draw in the story.

lol did it really take you 30 minutes to notice this wasn't live action. well i think it was live action with some computer animating effects.
