Reference to Leo DiCaprio and the film "Catch me if you can" which is about a guy who pretended to be things like a pilot, surgeon, etc. "Entering the Elvis phase" presumably refers to the fact that Leo has been gaining weight over his career. Since Scanner Darkly is "7 years from now" I gather it's a joke predicting that 7 years from now, Leo has totally tubbed out like Elvis in his later years.

Al: "What do people do for fun in this town?"
Max: "They eat the dinner."

So I don't know how much of the script is based in the book. I wonder how much was ad libbed?

It's weird with Leo, his body is still really trim, but his face has gotten puffy.
