Graphic Process, Good at Distracting from the Bad Acting

1) Film your movie
2) Realize the acting is below grade
3) Rescue Attempt: Feed the whole thing through a rotoscoping process
4) Noone will mention the bad acting*, while saying "Kewl visuals man!"

* Woody Harrelson / Winona.

you are so wrong it hurts me inside. The acting in this movie was incredible for the most part. Reeves gives the performance of his lifetime while Downey Jr got snubbed an oscar nomination in my opinion. He's that good.

true, but I'm calling bogus for different reasons: they knew at the start that it would be rotoscoped. it wasn't an after-thought to "hide crappy acting."

I thought the performances were quite good -- even Keanu (who sleepwalked through this, but since his character was a brain-damaged drug addict it "worked")-- but if you don't like something like that, it's subjective.

I'm not sure I agree that rotoscoping will cover up bad acting. In many ways, it makes the voices much more important because we can't judge the performances by actors' physical gestures. And far be it from me to defend Keanu Reeves, whom I normally can't stand, but I think him and the rest of the cast were pretty good here. Woah.

Rotoscoping in general is designed to preserve most of the actors' physical gestures, in a way that traditional animation cannot.

Especially computer-assisted rotoscoping, see also:

It was planned to be animated before it was started. However, in the DVD extras the actors mentioned that they hammed it up a bit to cut through the animation process. I thought it would have been better if they played it straight.

Agreed....

Very good point!

reply

Well I have noted that most rotoscoped movies involve serious overacting.

reply

There is no rotoscoping process to "feed the film through". The film was hand traced for the most part.

I love it when know-it-alls online prove how little they deserve the title.

reply

Rotoscoping started in the 1930s, so it is tracing by hand.

woody's performance was great IMO asi know a person exactly like him.not sure your beef with his acting and winona char was just a burnout that's the reason fort lack of emotion. I see it alot in the circles I've been through.

reply

I didn't have a problem with Woody Harrelson. It was Rory Cochrane as Freck that I couldn't stand.

reply

He was the best one! He reminded me of Bruno Schleinstein.

Nice attempt of trolling
