A deleted scene in the trailer?

In the trailer for a scanner darkly, for a few seconds, you can see a shot of
Freck following a woman on the street. This scene was never in the film.

Skip to 1:23, right after Luckman talks about the "infamous Beetles song":

If I had to guess, this is supposed to be early in the novel where Freck goes
out to cop for D because he's running short. As he's driving, sees Donna
walking on the sidewalk by a nearby mall (this is also the part where the
credit card scanners are explained for the mall, never mentioned in the film),
he parks his car, gets out, and follows her. Once he catches up, she pulls a
knife on him because she doesn't recognize him.

The scene in the trailer looks remarkably similar to how this scenario is laid
out in the novel. The only thing is, in the trailer, the woman Freck appears to
be following has dark hair and in the movie, Donna has blonde hair. However, in
the novel, Donna was supposed to have black hair. Could this be a scene they
filmed extremely early on but decided to cut it? Maybe Winona Ryder's hair was
originally and accurately black for the role, but they decided to change it or
rotoscope over it?

I'm just really excited this scene exists at all. I wish I could see the whole
thing. Does anyone know anymore about this?

Just an update.

After watching the post-production extras on the DVD, I didn't spot the trailer
scene above, but I did catch a glimpse of other potential deleted scenes. I
made a list of all the potential deleted scenes with their respective
timestamps:

10:32 - shot of donna walking with sunglasses on from the side, freck following donna scene?
11:07 - freck following donna
12:28 - newpath scene with mike walking alongside bruce
13:49 - freck and donna walking and talking
13:57 - newpath scene with mike walking alongside bruce
16:10 - possibly another shot of freck walking with donna
