Is this a real thing in Texas?

Monkeys on dogs is a popular rodeo entertainment. I live in the Midwest and have seen it at many rodeos and horse shows including the American Royal. They don't give it much time in the movie, but I almost died laughing the first time I saw it.

Thanks for the reply! I guess it would have been beyond the budget of this movie to create that from scratch. I also laughed like crazy.

I'd have laughed too if I was one tenth my age. It seems cruel to me as I imagine that monkeys are intelligent enough to know when they're being laughed at and what it means. The dogs only want to please so I'm fine with that part.
