Cameron's accent
It seems to me she speaks with a southern accent in the movie. Is it any good? based on the trailer I can't really tell. What do you guys think? I believe she had a similar accent in another movie, The Box

shareFrankly, I consider her poor attempt at a Texas accent refreshing as the real thing is annoying.
shareI live in Texas, and I think some of the criticism here is exaggerated. There were certain parts of her accent that were okay. Overall it was bad, but not nearly as bad as many Texas accents we've heard in mainstream movies over the years. I mean... go listen to Julia Roberts' accent in Charlie Wilson's War, and then come back and tell me Cameron Diaz's accent wasn't at least twice as close to Texas as Julia's. Julia put on this hard, R-dropping Georgia accent, which just isn't how we speak here. But I don't mean to pick on Julia Roberts; almost every Texas accent in Hollywood movies is bad... except when they use a Texan actor. Almost every one. I will admit I liked Josh Brolin's accent in No Country for Old Men. And I think I've heard Don Johnson do a decent Texas accent. But pretty much everybody else has done a horrible job. And in that spectrum, Cameron Diaz's accent wasn't as bad as many others'.
When I was your age, television was called books!
Reese Witherspoon would have been a better choice in this role.
shareThe problem with the question is that Texas has two accents, a southern one and a western one. Only the people who use the same accent as the one Diaz is using will find it believable.
