Movie bad or good?
I am debating weather to see this movie. It seems to have bad ratings, but I am a fan of Bettie. Is this movie worth seeing?

shareI'm a fan of Gretchen Mol but knew little about Bettie Page. Overall, I was a bit disappointed in the film...thought it lacked much focus or drive. I don't think Page's story is particularly unique or interesting, and in the end I felt like I had seen it all told before...only better.
shareI'd say it was trying to be drama of sorts maybe but without the drama so it ended up up a docudrama that gave a fair history of pinups and 'soft porn' and attitudes to sexual behaviour.
Page came across as unbelievably naive and cooperative all of the time in every circumstance and everyone around her from photographers to end users of the products all came across as incredibly nice honourable chaps and women in every way. It was all thoroughly 'nice'.
Being slightly cynical I find that a little hard to believe. But if it wasn't like that then that certainly wasn't shown.
But as a tiny insight the time it's okay and good to look at.
Mal,they are starting to damage my calm!
good points, maybe they changed some stuff
ddi you also watch it on tv in the uk?
Yes, it was shown here...before this I'd never heard of her but once the film started I got interested.

The Notorious Bettie Page's narrative was inconsistent with parts of Bettie's life being rushed through, such as her wartime marriage. If The Notorious Bettie Page had left out parts of Bettie's life solely to focus on her career then it would have been more consistent. Though Gretchen Mol's portrayal was capable of overpowering such inconsistencies.

Very goid. They capture the feeling of the 1950's by using black and white film during some of the movie. Gretchen Mol did a wonderful job. I afforded get on Life on Mars 2008-2009 USA version.
shareMaybe you should stop debating the weather and just decide whether you should watch the movie.
Sorry. Sometimes the temptation to correct stupidity overwhelms me.
