Brad is one stupid guy ^^
Never ever would i risk a marriage like the one he has. His wife loves him. That one is obvious.
Good for him that he learned it in the end

Some people are just stupid selfish pricks
shareBrad was clearly having trouble feeling like a non-man in his current role. As seen in scenes, his wife avoided intimacy with him, but he didn't handle things well by not trying to pass his exam so he could be a man and work.
Men and women have extramarital sexual encounters every day even though their spouses are wonderful and love them. This happens for a variety of reasons. If you don't understand that, then this movie probably will go over your head.
shareBut he didn't love her. At least not as much as he did Sarah.

This post brings up an interesting questions that no one has addressed: What ever attracted Brad to Kathy, and what ever attracted Sarah to her husband?
Both couples appear to be disastrously mismatched, and it seems inconceivable that they ever could have gotten married.
I loved the movie, but to me, this issue is a weakness in the plot.
I just saw the movie: "Little Children" and I must say I was very disappointed too how Brad never got caught cheating on his wife! He had an affair with Sarah for goodness sakes!!!! He has been sneaking out and going behind his wife's back and it just wasn't appropriate whatsoever for a married man with kids and a married woman having sex. Why couldn't he just be honest? Why did he have to lie and go behind his wife's back? I wish there was a scene in the movie where Brad's wife beat the hell out of him and where he got caught cheating and lying!! This was very frustrating and why this movie was garbage. This can never really happen in real life! Especially when Brad's wife started to get a little suspicious and even sense that Brad was cheating but didn't confront him or say anything about it? Made no sense!
shareIn the book she finds out but there is no beating. She isn't even hurt or angry in the way you'd expect a wife to be. For Kathy it is just about proving she is superior. So she sleeps with Brad and she just goes on about how she is better. Kathy just wants to point out that she is prettier and better in bed. All the adults are just little children.
shareIt happens plenty in real life. What planet are you from?
shareIt's easy to only blame Brad. What he did was definitely wrong.
But this was an illustration of a growing trend in marriages: once the kid comes, the wife only has affection for the child. She treated him like a sperm donor. She may not have respected him as a bread-winner, but he was doing a good job as a father.
But when he started developing feelings for Sarah, he should have left his wife.
