......they were trying to understand why Augustine buried the ring and her sister said to Elijah Wood "We are here because of the ring". Also, when Alex took him to the airport, he kissed the dog and said "I love you Sammy".

The movie was great by the way. I just thought it was funny.

Me too! There were several moments that had unintentional comedy factors because of the LOTR connection.
