'Disappointment' in films.
One thing that will run a moviegoing experience for most, if not all people, is to have predetermined expectations of a movie, whether they be based off the trailer or the book or what they've heard from friends.
I just watched Youth In Revolt and loved every moment of it. I wanted to know more about the cast and things so I came to IMDB. I was shocked to find that no one enjoyed the movie quite like I did.
Several people claim that the trailer "mislead" them, or gave them high expectations and also stated the film was "overhyped." I would go so far as to say any hollywood film is overhyped. So we should be used to it by now, am I right?
Stop expecting movies to play out how you think they will play out. You're only ruining the movie for yourself and anyone you spread your silly lies to. Stop expecting Michael Cera to be mindblowingly hilarious. Be a little more open minded.
Anyway, that is the main reason I feel people did not enjoy this film. People expected Juno or Superbad so thats what their brains gave them, except it wasn't the same so obviously it was "terrible". I didn't think I was going to enjoy this movie very much so I did not see it in theaters, but after the trailers had worn off and I sat down and watched it with NO expectations I loved it.
If you point a gun at your head and expect flowers to pop out when you pull the trigger, I wouldn't doubt you be slightly "disappointed" at the results.
