Actually, Lena WAS kind of snobby a little in the books. About some things anyway. And Tibby, like Carmen points out, goes around screaming "SCREW THE WORLD! because that's easier than feeling something!" and was very antisocial and a bit selfish IMO in the books. I mean, each has their own flaws, though, obviously, which is what makes them realistic. But for mine, I guess Lena would be at the top too. In the movie, each seems much more likeable, but when you read the book , see much more depth to each character and think about them, none of them really seem that likeable. Bridget is like Ariel, ridiculously impulsive and obsesses easily; Lena is a rather cold person and not open to try many new things; Carmen is bratty sometimes and a drama queen; Tibby is extremely crabby and looks at other people with a hypocritical view (as in, she sees everyone else minus her friends and herself as total losers when in reality she has her own flaws too). But as unlikeable as many of Carmen's traits are, I would probably put her as second... she's extremely loyal- something I am not used to having returned to me in my friendships- and she cares, she cars very, very strongly. Sure, she can be dramatic (the rock thing was seriously childish, although if I was that upset I might do something similar), but she has many common traits of a good friend.
I also thought Bridget would be the type of person who IS nice, but her reckless behavior is enough to drive more serious people like Lena or myself away.
Interesting thread, though.
Atticus told me to delete the adjectives and I'd have the facts.
