Question about Scene

When Carmen is woken up by Lydia and she tells Carmen that Maria, the maid, wants to do the bed sheets, Carmen refuses several times.

Is this because she didn't want to feel like she was giving in to Lydia's lifestyle?

Was it that she wanted to defy everything about Lydia's life just because of her dislike toward her?

Did it have anything to do with Maria being Hispanic?

I believe that the fact that Maria was Hispanic was a big part of it, but also Carmen wasn't used to being served on. I also think that she had a Hispanic to Hispanic moment with Maria.

I was kind of waiting for Carmen to talk to Maria (in Spanish) during or after that scene and ask her something like "how can you live like this". It seemed like Carmen was so anti-anything to do with Lydia and her lifestyle. Either way, the thing with the sheets seemed a little weird to me.

I thought Carmen just wanted to sleep in and Lydia was being passive aggressive. Lydia didn't think Carmen should be sleeping so late but she used the sheets as an excuse. Also I thought Carmen felt uncomfortable having a maid.

It was to make a point that is still here house, she was first there, is a fight for the power in the house between them.

i thought she just wanted to sleep in.. i think she was kind of bummed out because her dad hadn't been making much time for her and that doesn't exactly make you want to get out of bed in the morning.
