Was Brian supposed to be Korean?

According to the books, was Brian McBrian (interesting name...) supposed to be Korean, or at least Asian? An Asian-American actor, Leonardo Nam, played his part in both films, but his ethnicity seemed to be irrelevant to the storyline.

I'm not racist or anything (in fact, I'm Asian myself), but I'm curious because "McBrian" is not a typical Asian surname (except through adoption or marriage).

It's been a little while since I've read the books but if I remember correctly, I don't think his ethnicity was specified. The girls ethnicities were, or at least Carmen, Lena and Bee's were, but I don't think any of the other characters were.

Eric was supposed to be Mexican :/

Ah, yes. That's right. I remember, now that you bring that up. He definitely did not look Mexican.

Half Mexican.

But he is described as more Spanish-looking than this actor, to be sure.

It's been awhile since I read the books, but I'm pretty sure that, in the books, there were descriptions Brian's physical appearance that were more typical of someone Caucasian. That being said, I really liked Leonardo Nam as Brian, especially in the second movie. He brought a lot of charm to the role.
