Clearly, the OP has not watched many/any Sci Fi original movies!

Tho it is dark . . . know our flag . . . is still there.

Sci Fi channel clearly has a scientific ethos and thus, the monsters being CGI does not fit within those parameters.

the cgi of the church at the beginning has not aged well though
