Review of Boston Legal
I watched some DVDs of "Boston Legal" because I heard it was good. I watched the first episodes of the 3rd season. It was downright awful. I was expecting a legal drama along the lines of "Perry Mason" or at least "L.A. Law." But what it was was a soap opera with the most lurid elements of "L.A. Law" stretched out to cover most of an episode, mixed in with some absurd court cases. A bum on trial for cannibalism. A lawyer (or something?) on trial for attacking the cops who tried to seize his carpool-cheater mannequin.
"Boston Legal" was downright silly and annoying to watch. After the second full ep, I fast-forwarded through the soap opera parts and only watched the story arc about a law clerk on trial for murder of the judge he worked for. For days now, I have been trying to banish the image of the cartoonish peeping tom from my head.
Nothing that happened in this so-called legal drama seemed to have been written or vetted by anyone with a knowledge of how courts and police work.
One other annoyance: The establishing shots ran as a flurry of images. No shot of Boston stayed on the screen for even a full second.
