Question Re: Paul Lewiston's Exit

I never watched "Boston Legal" when it originally aired, only years later in re-runs on various stations. That said, I never saw the ep,(if it indeed aired), that contained or explained what happened to Paul Lewiston. It seems that he was there one day, then Carl Sack came and apparently took his place.

Anyone know? Thanks!

In the one ep of Season 4 he appears in, "Oral Contracts", Paul explains he moved to the 'upstairs' side of things upon happily passing his torch of 'reigning in Denny Crane' (as held by the likes of Edwin Poole and Brad Chase) to Carl. He appears in this episode due to a major legal issue Denny gets stuck in, though it's sadly never explicitly revealed if he's for or against his old friend in this manner. He later appears in Season 5 for the episode "Mad Cows", in addition to the concluding two-part story "Made in China"/"Last Call".
