Does he or doesn't he?
Does Denny really believe he has "Mad Cow" or is he aware he has Alzheimer's or is he just being a total jerk because the thought he might be sick is somehow freeing to him or did he always act like that all the time?
shareDenny knows he has Alzheimers although he's in semi-denial for most of the series. It seems he called it Mad Cow as a way of coping with a serious disease - it has a silly name so it can't be serious. In season 5 Carl comments that by calling it Mad Cow he (Carl) forgets to take it as seriously as he should. One of the final story arcs in the series addresses the progression of the disease and Denny's decisions to control his future.
