the fun vs the difficulty

This is an old topic but I have to say something about it. I've played video games for almost my entire life and this is the hardest game I've ever played. Ever. And I beat Fear Effect 2. The graphics are great and it's fun doing some cool ninja moves but why is this so hard? It's caused me so much grief and frustration that I have to stop playing it when I fight a new boss and he kills me for the 15th time. I tell myself, "Ok now I know his technique, this time I'll win. NOOOO!!!!!" I just don't understand what the fun is in having your ass kicked most the time and just hoping you have enough life and luck to make it through the next part. I can't understand the logic. And at the same time people complain a game like the Wind Waker isn't fun because it's too easy?! I'll take easy and fun over this any day. And I like the game but I'm just pissed off at it.

Being pissed off at Ninja Gaiden is normal. But if you get over that and accept the challenge, you will really enjoy it. I have just finished it and I already miss it. I wish I could go back to the beginning without knowing anything and getting my behind kicked a million times.

It's a challenge. Tomonobu Itagaki (its creator) said that he wanted to challenge players. He and Team Ninja designed it so only 50% of the people that play it will finish it. So it's a challenge.

It's not really that hard, but it requires patience and that you learn to play it. You won't get pass chapter 1 if you're a button masher (I don't say this meaning you, but in general). The first chapters are the hardest. The rest are hard too but if you have learned, you will get pass them

My advice, give Ninja Gaiden another chance. It's a great game. This game separates casual gamers from good gamers.

Good luck!

PS. If you want to take the challenge and finish it, post here your doubts or parts where you get stuck and I'll gladly help you.

Maybe one day I'll pick it back up, last time I played I was on a chapter where I was in a fire cave with dragons and such. Since then I've got Metroid Prime 2 which I like but sometimes the bosses give me trouble, Fight Night Round 2 which I don't like at all, Mortal Kombat Deception which until recently I liked until I got to the end of Konquest mode and Scorpion keeps handing my ass to me no matter what, and DOA Ultimate which I absolutely love. So when I'm done with DOA, I guess I'll try Ninja Gaiden for a while. Maybe in my old age I've gotten worse at games.

By now, I think I've made it very clear about my relationship with Ninja Gaiden. I played it again yesterday, and I started to progress. I only need to level up the wooden sword one more time to become the unlabored flawlessness.
Today in the mall a funny thing happened to me. I asked the guy in EB about cheat devices for XBOX. I tell him, "..yeah I'm trying to beat Ninja Gaiden..." He looks at me and with a sigh was like "I feel your pain brother."

whoever said the part about "this game separates the casual gamers from the good gamers".

so dead on CORRECT!

i'm just sick of game-producers altering the game to fit the newbies and casuals.... a game should be hard, it shouldn't only be satisfying your needs.

if you think it's hard, play on normal. i'd be pissed off Ninja Gaiden 2 is easier than the 1st. They should make it EVEN harder.. *one can hope*.

if they want to make it enjoyable for the losers, put a "easy" or "very easy" level so that they can stop the bitchin.....

i personally always play on very hard (since the time I got it unlocked).

*looking forward to the NINJA GAIDEN 2 for XBOX/XBOX2*

You came on here trying to be the biggest hardass and you win. Many people are casual gamers and many people are turned off by this game. "One can hope that Ninja Gaiden 2 is harder than the first." Yeah right see how well that goes over. It wouldn't sell.
Because people don't spend their lives playing video games they're losers? Like many people I wanted to play this game because I liked the old ones and I like DOA, but this game's incredibly high pedrigree is disgusting. They better make part 2 easier or people will really complain. Do you want an award because you play it on very hard or something? Stop trying to sound so cool.

I think he's only proud of having finished it. You feel proud when you finish this game, trust me. It's not a really hard game. But you have to learn the game. You won't go ahead if you're a button masher.

It's like the soccer games. If you are an awful player and don't want to make an effort, get FIFA 2005; if you really enjoy and know about soccer, buy Winning Eleven 8.

Trust me. Ninja Gaiden is not that hard. A friend completed it and he sucks at games. I defeat him 4-0 in Winning Eleven. I'm not trying to be a snob; I'm just saying that you should give it another shot. Ninja Gaiden requires effort, but it's not impossible as some people say.

I understand you've beat it already, but people shouldn't hate it because they aren't good at it...

That's just plain stupid. The thing about Ninja Gaiden, is that you gradually learn, and by the end of the game, you're a master ninja.

I sucked at the first bosses. It took me months to get past chapters 1-10. But now that I'm replaying it, I've gotten to 10 within 3 hours.

So don't be so pessimistic. If you suck at it, don't blame the game, just learn more, and get better.

I finished it months ago and I've never played it since then. I just could never stomach going through all that again. No way. By the end I had over 40 scarabs, and I don't really care to get all 50. I don't even know why I never sold it yet. I guess I just keep it as a reminder like, "yeah I finished that game."

Anyway, Samurais are way cooler than Ninjas.

reply

Dude... no... Samurai suck.

Well, Tom Cruise the Samurai sucked anyway...

Well, you should play it again!

Trust me, there isn't much to go through! The only thing you'll find yourself screaching in agony over, are those goddamn fish things!!

I *beep* HATE THOSE LITTLE FISH!

reply

It just seems like Ninjas are part of a clan and they have to follow rules. A Samurai answers to no one and makes his own path. I've never seen The Last Samurai and I don't want to.

I hated those fish too, but one good thing is I'd just keep jump attacking them and they'd give alot of points for upgrades. I might get Ninja Gaiden Black because I heard there's an easy mode on it. I'd enjoy it more then.

If it is on normal difficulty then it is fun. Not too difficult and not too easy, although those gost fish have killed me before!!!!!!! They are so annoying!!!!!

"Yes, dudes and dudettes! Major league butt-kicking is back in town!"

You think this is hard? Play F-Zero GX and beat story mode. Ninja Gaiden's got nothing on F-Zero in terms of difficulty.
