Nag nag nag.

Grow up. Both of you.

I liked Rachel, added a bit of "soul" to the game. If someone else didnt like her; big deal. Who cares?

That's true, I didn't like her at all. Her outfit and the double DDs are just for fan service and are just so unrealistic for a woman fighting through fiends and evil. Other than that, she hardly ever gets to kickass; actually once she gets kidnapped, she's completely helpless during the rest of the game. And did I mention her character design is completely laughable.

I don't see how the hell you can defend Rachel. She has no personality and her character is never developed. She is the typical blond damsel-in-distress that constantly needs saving. She never helps Ryu (At least where I am. I'm on Chapter 14 right now), and don't even get me started on how ridiculously oversized her boobs are. It's really embarassing. I can't play the game around my brother or parents for fear she'll pop up and shove her boobs in front of the screen. Women don't have to be like that in games. Some examples of well developed women characters in games I've played:

Mona Sax in Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (PLAY THIS GAME. Its 2 bucks at EBGames)
Alyx in Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2 Episode One
Jade in Beyond Good & Evil
Farah (sort of) in Prince of Persia The Sands of Time

Unfourtunately, that is really all I can come up with right now.

I agree entirely with that last post. You hit the nail right on the head; Rachel was hardly the best character in the game and her character design is indeed terrible. Ayane was more useful to Ryu's quest than Rachel was; even if she played a fairly important role as a demon hunter (though I still believe Ayane was far more useful to Ryu).

Rachel's character is demeaning to many women in my opinion; she was obviously aimed solely at teenage boys at no one else. Her breasts were just ludicrous and embrrassing. I found it both funny and sad at the same time.

I say this without meaning to offend the fans of Rachel; but her character was not well developed at all. Her character simply seemed to fit sexist stereotypes of young blonde, 'pin-up' girls. There was no real development; I couldn't take anything she said seriously because I kept getting distracted by her breasts.

Characters like Rachel do not do anything to improve the representation of female characters in main games at all. In fact, they're a step back.
However, there are many more positive representations of female characters in recent games including Elena from Drake's Fortune and perhaps some of the female fighters from the latest Tekken games.

If they bring her back for a sequel her character design seriously needs to be revised.

I think all the reasons you stated why you hate her is why I enjoy her. Besides I think you're complaining why all games are not wholesome. Female characters in games haven't been wholesome since Mortal Kombat. They're all wearing thongs. Seriously have you only played Mario games with princess Peach?
