Sylvia67 you are not the only one. I thought I was watching the Allstate commercial when I saw him but then I realized he was playing a character in the movie.
Yeah...you can tell a movie from a commercial 'cause a movie is usually a lot longer. So if you are having trouble, just check your watch, and if it's still playing after a few minutes you can almost bet you're watching a movie. Commercials are over in a few seconds or so....like I said before movies last much longer than that. So just keep a watch close by when you watch television....so you'll be able to tell.......okay?
shareYeah, I know this thread is a bit of a joke. But the truth is that being a spokesperson for a product on TV can absolutely put a *beep* in someone's acting career. Occasionally shooting a commercial is different than being a consistent spokesperson. It too closely identifies and categorizes one's voice and face, like Catherine Zeta-Jones and the cell phone service and Dennis with Allstate. Too bad too, because I liked Dennis as an actor.
"I'd never ask you to trust me. It's the cry of a guilty soul."
I take exception to you all! Before he was Allstate's spokesperson, he was President of the United States on 24 for two seasons! so when I saw him with Allstate, I was surprised to see former President Palmer selling car insurance! You'd think he'd take a year or two to write his memoirs, oh wait, he was assassinated? Wow, back from the dead to sell insurance!???
shareDon't forget he was the getaway driver in Heat. A small part in the movie but very well played. Also, just watched Far From Heaven again with Julianne Moore. Terrific performances from both of them.
shareHe'll always be President Palmer to me, too.
Whenever I see him in anything, I expect him to call Jack Bauer.
"You're Chocolate Chip Charlie!"
