Watched parts of the second half I haven't seen in years.

My obsession with the film the past few weeks and months has been with the opening hour or so of the film, but last night I dove beyond that and watched parts of Act II and III. Was interesting viewing it for what may as well have been the first time. There were little moments I don't remember but now love even more now than I would have in summer/fall 2007 when I watched the first time. What's interesting is not only did I like it a lot at that time, but while watching it I realized how my own style, taste, and interest has developed over the years and while watching I got this vibe almost like it was customized to fit what I'd like. So now I'm stuck being even more intrigued by it, and the next time I get glued to the opening 30-45 minutes, it may cross into accidentally watching an additional 30 and then suddenly realizing it's almost over. What's sad about that though is you start feeling like "Aren't there more scenes?" because it just starts to feel like the movie flows fast once you've memorized it. Like last night I saw the scene where Eric gets his stuff out of Hanssen's office, which I had completely forgotten about, and it was sorta loaded with references to scenes I now know quite well but because of my lack of familiarity with the scene it took on a different tone and even had the vibe of an alternate or deleted scene, and so when the credits eventually rolled I'm thinking "I don't want this to end." but it came with a smile on my face and a reiteration of "I wish I'd made that movie!" which happens with only a handful of my favorites.

No question, Breach is one of those rare movies that is so well crafted it becomes addictive. Chris Cooper was absolutely mesmerizing and is what made the film as compelling as it was. I can watch any number of scenes as stand-alones and enjoy them thoroughly without watching what came before or after. Kudos to Director Billy Ray.
