When Eric's boss is talking to him she says that "so an so told her Eric can 'park it' if necessary" or words to that effect.

What does "park it" mean in this context?

In the conversation, Laura Linney was saying that Eric was ambitious but that he could "park it", meaning put his ambitions on hold for the good of the case. A team player when he needed to be.
