WTF... Grenade Launcher??

When the FBI was searching Hanssen's car they open the trunk to find it full of automatic weapons, and, ahem, an assault rifle with grenade launcher attached? Had to rewind that part to make sure I was seeing it correctly. So... working for the FBI enables you to roll around with grenades in your trunk?

Yeah I never got that part either. It's been a while since I saw this movie. I'm not sure why he would have such weapons in the trunk if his car. He was not a field agent, he had a desk job.

My guess is he was selling arms to someone.

I could be wrong. Need to see the movie again.

Or possibly it was just part of his paranoia. He was anticipating apprehension, and maybe he had some wild fantasy of defending himself with grenades.

Also fantasies of heroism would go nicely with his narcissism.
