Missing the 2006 Oscars?

Is FIERCE PEOPLE, Diane's new film, eligible for Oscar consideration in 2006? I thought that the film festival screenings of 2005 qualified it for consideration for the upcoming awards.

Does the film need to have an official release in 2005 in order to be nominated?

Can't see this being nominated at all. It's SO low profile and no one has heard of it.

Yes, such is the fate of many independent films with no publicity machine behind them.
