Drama to thriller

After watching the trailer for this movie it gives the sense of a film that changes its tone in a very drastic way. A drama of sorts. Big familys, relations and plot twists. Though toward the end of the movie it seems to become much darker. Hidden motives and something more. The feel of a thriller in the end.

Though its just a trailer, still looks pretty good.

Anyone get this feeling from the film?

You've got it pegged pretty good. It is hard to describe. It's something like a dramatic comedy at first but turns dark and ends up as more of a comedic drama, I suppose. And, yes, there is a mystery/thriller in there to boot. It's a coming-of-age tale most of all, I think.

It's a complex, rich character piece around an amazing story. See my review on the User Comments page -- I tried to delve it into a bit.

It does have that feel to it. The trailer does seem to compliment it nicely.

I saw it at the Tribeca Film Festival in April '05 and it was an excellent movie! I highly recommend to anyone who can appreciate a fine film. Diane Lane was of course the best part, amazing acting. Everything about it was awesome! Tell everyone you know to go see it, it deserves a lot more recognition than it has gotten thus far.
