Autonomous Films is releasing this film with Lionsgate, expected to garnish awards early in the year with a great cast.

sorry Larry, If it is I am sorry, I didn't see another thread.

No worries, ADO. Your comment about awards is new (and something with which I wholeheartedly agree). :)

Yes larry-411, it is. It is also the same one that plays on the movie's myspace page.

P.S. larry-411, is it tough to get tickets for The Woodstock Film Festival? There's a certain movie that will be playing there that I am very interested in so I am thinking about making the trip north. It's called The Cake Eaters and was directed by Mary Stuart Masterson. One of the producers went to the same university as I did. Oh yeah, one of the actors in it is Kristen Stewart who I will see in Fierce People providing it expands here to Miami. I guess it's kind of ironic that I am willing to travel to N.Y. for Woodstock but am unwilling to travel to Atlanta (the closest of the ten cities) to see Fierce People.

Hi Kabat. It's not hard at all to get tickets for Woodstock. I didn't cover the whole festival -- I only went for 2 films -- but I bought them online with no hassle. There are sellouts, but available tickets are sold the same day at the festival box office.

It's a very rural, laid-back event. Of the 15 festivals I attended in 2006-07, it was by far the most homespun. It's very easy to find an inexpensive place to stay and the whole area is easy to navigate.

BTW I attended the World Premiere of The Cake Eaters at Tribeca. It was hard to get. I was press, but I wanted to attend the public screening rather than the press screening, so I had to really work to get one. I met Mary and several cast members and they couldn't have been nicer or more approachable. She was wonderful.

It's such a wonderful film. It's one of those small, character-driven indies that's obviously made with a lot of love and care on the part of everyone involved (much like Fierce People). I loved it.

Thank you, Larry!!! Glad you got to see The Cake Eaters at Tribeca. I was thinking about going to Tribeca but those plans changed abruptly when I woke up in the hospital on April 3rd. I spent eight very expensive days there so now all they want from me is $47 grand.

That won't stop me from going to Woodstock now though, and after reading your post I'm even more psyched to go. Finding a hotel never even crossed my mind as I have a cousin who lives in the area. They'll definitely make room for me as I have lost count of how many times he and his wife have stayed at my house in the middle of February.

As for Fierce People, I sure hope that it expands here. But even if it doesn't I'm just glad that it is finally getting released!! At least that will mean that a DVD release should happen several months later. And that's a DVD I definitely plan to buy.

Wow, that doesn't sound like fun. Sorry to hear about that.

But you'll definitely have fun in Woodstock. It's such a friendly atmosphere -- it's a very 60s town and a hippie sensibility still rules. You see peace signs and tie-dyed Dead shirts everywhere. Leave your work clothes at home.

Fierce People is getting some good press, and that's just awesome. Fears that it would somehow get dumped and forgotten have proved unfounded. I'm so glad the folks at Autonomous are really working it.

Awards? Yep. Definately. DIANE LANE was astonishing in this film. When she confronts DONALD SUTHERLANDS character her acting gave me goosebumps!
