'Great Expecations'?

i read a writeup in Vanity Fair about this ... of course, just a short paragraph.

with the main character being named Finn, the older female presence being a little 'off' psychologically (Miss Havisham?), Finn's upward mobility, Finn falling for a wealthy girl (Estella) out of his reach ... this just reminded me so much of the book "Great Expectations."

has anyone who has seen the movie (or knows it) and is familiar with the book let me know if i'm hallucinating or way off base on my assumption?

thanks so much in advance!

It's not like Great Expectations at all. It's based on another novel. It's more about one summer's experience with the ultra-odd/rich. Great Expectations spans a whole lifetime and is much more serious.

Finn was only the name of the main character of Great Expectations in the 1998 film adaptation. His name was Pip in the Dickens novel.

Fierce People is based on a novel of the same name by Dirk Wittenborn.
