Hey Larry, YELL REAL LOUD if you find that Fierce People is coming to South Florida. Thanks.

Meanwhile I got good news today -- The Cake Eaters will be playing at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival on November 8th and 9th!!! That'll save me the trip to Woodstock. Also, I won't be seeing Into the Wild when it opens in Miami on October 5th because I'll be in Philadelphia for the Springsteen concerts on the 5th & 6th. Maybe I'll see it Sunday evening after I return home. Or maybe I'll see it in Philly on the afternoon of the 5th as I wait for my friends to arrive for the concerts.

reply

Haha. Sure will!

Here is the FLIFF schedule for The Cake Eaters:

Thursday, November 8
7:00 PM

There are 2 options: Film only or Film and party

Friday, November 9
9:00 PM

Mary Stuart Masterson will be at both screenings at Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center.

Tickets on sale at:

Hey Larry -- I just happened to click on imdb's release dates for Fierce People and was surprised to see that November 30th is listed as a U.S. date.

I hope that this will come true, i.e. that the rest of us "peons" will be able to see it then, but for now I'll just file this under "I'll believe it when I see it."

Here's the page >>> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0401420/releaseinfo

Hmm...that's an odd one. I'm not quite sure what that means.

My point exactly about how the "goosing" of grosses has suckered more theaters into carrying this stinker.

It's theater count drops back to 5 this upcoming weekend:

Bellevue Galleria Stadium 11 (Bellevue,WA)
Regal Meridian 16 (Seattle,WA)
Legacy (Plano,TX)
Evanston Century 12/CineArts 6 (Evanston,IL)
Landmark Century Centre Cinema (Chicago,IL)

Thanks for the update. I suspected as much.

I'm sure it will do well on DVD. I'm guessing before the end of the year.

In it's fifth weekend, the film continues at two theaters nationwide:

OCTOBER 5th, 2007:
Camelot Theatres (Palm Springs,CA)
Marcus Westgate Cinemas (Madison,WI)

Sorry to hear the number of theatres is dwindling down. I liked the film very, very much. It just opened in Palm Springs yesterday. We went to an afternoon matinee, and the theater was not crowded. Chris Evans alone should pull in a big crowd, and Diane Lane looks gorgeous, almost as good as "Unfaithful". I hope it continues to have a successful run and gets widely viewed. Donald Sutherland deserves an oscar. It should be popular on DVD and pay-per-view. I noticed where the DVD is already available on some European web sites. I'm looking for the soundtrack, which apparently has never been released.

I'm not sure if this is true or not, but for what it's worth, on the main IMDb Fierce People page, November 30th is listed as the release date for the rest of the U.S.

reply

According to Box Office Mojo, its run ended. The last figures they have are for September 21-23. It doesn't show up on the list of all films for this past weekend.

IMDb shows it playing at two theaters through Thursday and that's it:

* Marcus Westgate Cinemas (Madison,WI)
* Camelot Theatres (Palm Springs,CA)
