A TRUE MASTERPIECE! I WAS TRULY STUNNED!!!

FIERCE PEOPLE is the definition of a wonderful film. I was very impressed and it is a shame that it is only going to be in limited release because everything from the acting to the cinematography to the story is very very enjoyable. By far the best film I have seen this year. Maybe even in the last decade.

Thanks for posting! I've been saying as much about the film since I saw it almost a year ago at the Woodstock Film Festival. I hope it gets the audience it deserves.

it was pretty damn good.

It was one of the best movies I have ever seen! Well I am Diane Lane's #1 fan an I own everything she has ever been in!! But seriously, I saw the premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 24, 2005 and I am so angry it hasn't been released into theatres yet. It truly was an excellent movie and Diane Lane of course was the best part, amazing acting as always. The studios have released so many stupid films and they are sadly overlooking this piece of art. Bad, Bad move on their parts. Wide release and the right promotion and this movie would bank. Such ashame fine works like this get totally ignored!

It is no longer being ignored, though. It will be out in just a few weeks and is now getting a lot of press attention.

I'm sorry to say that I totally disagree! In my opinion it was a bit too much like Hotel New Hampshire - the weird spoiled rich people. The acting was okay, but not sensational, and there were too many loose ends (like watever happened to Lanes addiction? From being a serious cokehead to being the concerned mother?? It just went a bit too fast!!! And the teenage love triangle, it just faded somehow.) All in all the story has been told many times before, and a lot better. But if you're looking for a couple of hours of harmless entertainment, then it's alright. And let me just say, I really didn't expect much of this movie, so it's not like my expectations were too high.

reply

In a way it is still being ignored, unfortunately. It was ignored for over 2 years and even though it is finally being released, it is only limited when it should be and so deserves to be wide release. This crap always seems to happen with the good ones and then there are all these idiotic farces they try to call movies that get released into thousands of theatres and end up flopping anyway. That's what the studios get for being so brainless. Oh well, s**t happens, it's just ashame sometimes.

you can order it on blockbuster online. i'm pretty sure. i'm waiting to see it in theaters though.

^ Interesting review link... sorta praises the characters as colorful but says it's a colelction of them in search of a cohesive story. Seems to be the consensus based on what i've heard...

I was all for liking this movie, but it was a mess! All over the place. Good premise, actors, but man, what a let down.

there were a lot of great scenes...but a lot of "are you kidding me" moments. i dont know. it was still pretty good because of how funny and quirky it was at times. Direction was ok but Diane Lane, Donald Sutherland, and Anton Yelchin were very good. Chris Evans and Kristin Stewart played their parts well but their characters were nothing different or special.

i saw it this afternoon and it will certainly be on my favorite films list this year. while not a perfect film, i was thoroughly entertained. but then again, i love quirky and complex movies, my taste is probably not indicative of the general public. it did remind me of The Hotel New Hampshire, as one poster pointed out, but i always thought that motion picture was underrated!

reply

It's good! Diane Lane was excellent!
