In all honesty

I thought this movie was incredible from a tech perspective

The cinematography was amazing, visually it was a beautiful movie, and I loved the suffocating feeling I got throughout the whole film. I really felt for jean-do's character. It was like looking at art in a world famous museum.

but,

I only gave it as a whole a 6.9/10
as art I'd give it a 9.5/10

As beautiful as the movie was, You have to admit.. it wasn't THAT entertaining, maybe thats just me, but I love movies that are story driven, ones that I can fall in love with.

This movie I can really appreciate and marvel at, but I can't fall in love with it, I'll probably watch it a second time, but I can't see myself watching it again after that.

am I the only one that feels this way?

I agree. The cinematography is great and the story too but theres something about it that just doesnt makes you LOVE it. Dont know what it is though...

I appreciate your honesty. It's perfectly fine that you weren't entertained. I was. I loved the cinematography, and maybe that's what kept me interested the whole way through. I really enjoyed the music as well. I can't tell what about the music made it so good, but I liked it.

Sometimes a film is what I call a specialty film. It may not all come together - all the parts may not be fantastic - but in one special area, it excells. I think this film is one such picture. The cinematography, especially in terms of point of view shots, is extremely innovative. I'm glad this film is in the top 250, even just for how amazing the one aspect of the film was.

All in all, I liked it. Just a different viewpoint that yours, that's all.

I agree completely, but I absolutely loved the movie based entirely on its emotional impact

but I think the blame could be placed not necessarily on the movie, but the source material

the book didn't necessarily have that much entertainment value in terms of story or plot as each chapter was more of a vignette about his life. It was emotional and hearbreaking, but there was not really a story behind it other than his condition

Kandinski, I totally agree. This movie is just about anything but entertaining-- but it's not supposed to be. It could almost be considered a biography(although a fictional one, at best), which then shows it's obvious that it will be anything but entertaining.

Isn't a smoking area in a restaurant like a peeing area in a pool?
