So predictable
Yes, a sad and moving story. Predictable from the first frame to the last. A bore.

shareHow you could not be drawn in by this movie and think it's a bore is beyond me. Yes, there are sequences that move slowly but the film is brilliant, a masterpiece.
shareOf course it's predictable. It's a true story. >_>
shareI was absolutely glued to the screen. I didn't find it boring in the least. I can't believe you didn't know it was a true story. I heard the translated novel isn't as good. I still might give it a read.
shareI absolutely love the translated novel! Then again I do not speak French, so I may be missing out.

I respect the OP's opinion, but I've watch it twice and have been enthrolled every single second of each viewing. It continues amazes me just how good this film is, it's so good it's overwhelming and I am still looking forward to another viewing.
shareI know exactly how the OP feels... I went to a dramatic biopic about a guy in a wheelchair hoping for some wicked twist at the end. If only Schnabel had used some artistic license to maybe introduce some sci-fi kinda element to it and Bauby couldve been a walking, talking, miracle. Maybe his father couldve had some super-healing Alien secret that he had forgotten(cos hes got such a bad memory in the film) and rushes to the hospital at the last second, saving his sons life. Now that woulda been sick.
shareI don't understand how this film could be boring either - I remember putting it on with inquisitive innocence and I could not stop watching.... such a brilliant narrative and way of filming.... I keep thinking about it. I agree with the OP though, it would be my favourite film of all time if Michael Bay had just introduced some explosions, or a gigantic monster with 17,000 eyes had eaten Bauby, to which the military come off-set from independence day and Roland Emmerich directs them to victory?....
No i'm messing ahahahaha
