Magazine editor?

When the hospital employees were fawning all over Jean-Do, saying what an honor it was to have him there, I assumed that he was something more than a magazine editor. Maybe a doctor who helped create a lifesaving drug, someone who rescued a family from a burning building, or at least a famous actor or sports figure. But...a magazine editor? I just found it surprising. BTW, I'm not being critical of the French. It's just very telling about the differences in culture. In the US, we worship people who can put a little ball in hole or pretend to be someone else, so who am I to talk. But still...a magazine editor?

I will give your post the honor of having a reply.
The only one who mentioned anything about being Honored about having him there was that nurse, and she is a woman, and probably Elle was the Only thing she reads! it came as a very natural thing to say. The other nurse (who came up with the alphabetical system) said that this is the most important thing she has ever done. I really doubt she said so because of his job, but because of the case. Had he been able to talk and all, she wouldn't have considered it as one of the most important tasks.
One last thing.. he was not only the editor of Elle, but also a writer.

I don't know if it's just me being too sensitive and allergic to shallow posts.. or are these posts Really irritatingly shallow?
People: stop whining and nitpicking, enjoy the film or find something else to talk about.
