Favorite Scene(s)
For me it's unquestionably the pair of scenes with Henriette; the first two sessions experimenting with the alphabet card. It feels obvious but I can't help it, Marie-Josée Croze knocked these two scenes out of the park. First I don't know if it was played this way on purpose but her flirty smile was knee-buckling in the first scene, when she asked, "What do you want?" That followed by the heartbreak on her face as she realizes he's saying "I want to die" was a sight to behold. Then, following up with day two, watching her face as she realizes he's saying thank you...listening to her cadence as she races through the alphabet to get to the letter "C" she's dying to "hear." It's such a treat to see her smile, her face glowing, and then the little comic relief in the funniest line of the film, "Women aren't complicated." I could watch those scenes over and over.
