I love the Coens, but...

Schnabel should've taken home the Oscar for this. I've watched the film around a dozen times and I still can't get enough of it. The guy can be a douche, but he sure knows how to make a film. Perfect all-around.

I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!

you know, I was thinking of this today as I watched the film for the second time: I don't like schnable much, but when you watch such a film you start thinking of the human being inside of him that made that film in that way. I mean only a real human being, with deep feelings, thoughts and compassion is capable of expressing and translating this story in that way. So probably behind the front he has, which many of us are not in love with, maybe there is a different human being behind it.. someone who feels, has compassion and deep understanding of L I F E, and what it is to be human. And that's part of Art. He might be an a$$hole, most of the time, but when he makes art (films) the other side of him starts shinning.

Amazing. I couldn't help but like him listening to his director's commentary on the film.

No Country for Old Men is a great movie, but it did drag once in a while. Coens' wrote a really good script, but the directing was a little stale at times. Schnabel definitely should have won.
