In Trailer But Not in Film (Possible SPOILERS Potential)

Early reports are that the trailer won't be on the DVD. It should be, and here's why:

As far as I can tell, the following is NOT in the film, but is in trailer

1) Medium full body shots of Sidney breaking guitarist's fingers:
Charlie: "As an attorney I advise you to cease and desist."
Sidney: "I'm almost done!"

2) Vic and Charlie at a bar, no such scene in film:
Vic: "If ya are whatcha do and ya never do anything, thenyaknow, what are ya?"

3) Shots of Charlie getting two big suitcases/bags and leaving hotel room or bedroom

4) Vic: "I wanna know if when I use the word 'normal' if we understand it the same way!" We hear this, but it is intercut with various images, and made to look like it is being said in the restaurant scene. But in that scene he is berating Charlie about how Charlie may have thought up the scheme, but then didn't have the balls to try and pull it off, and the "normal" line is not spoken there or anywhere else in the film.

5) Close up of woman, Cupcake (I think) saying:
"Ya ever notice how weird people get this time of year?"
followed by a short montage of odd looking moments from the film, which is then followed by
Reverse close up of Charlie shrugging and saying:
"Yeah."
This female character can be seen in the first Tease-O-Rama scene, at the bar to the right of where Charlie was as he faced the bar, with his back to the stage. It is when Roy is asking about him after Charlie has gotten the photo. Later, both Vic and Renata mention Charlie comping dancer's drinks and waving their stage fees. This is where we see him wave a stage fee. But nowhere does he comp a drink. It could have been intended to be info. we never see, but I'm guessing he had a short conversation with Cupcake, and comped her drink. (No, I haven't rechecked the book to see if that happens in the book. If it does, it makes even more sense that it might have been in the script, and shot). The actress looks like the stills of Jenny Wade, who is credited as Cupcake, and aside from possibly being glimpsed in that scene, she only appears in the blackmail photo---which actually doesn't look like the same actress to me, but then the look on her face is so funny, it is hard to tell.

Both the trailer and these scenes OUGHT to be included as extras on the DVD

You are absolutely correct. I too noticed this, and they should be on the dvd.

Also, when Randy Quiad says "Anybody but a lawyer would consider the consequences," they show his face when he says that. In the movie, you overhear it as Charlie runs through the bar looking for the bullets.

Damn, thats a lot of things. I kinda get the feeling the movie was edited a lot. A lot of scenes cut. I mean 88 mins? Something had to go. I read the book also, it felt longer then the movie.

Yeah, like 95 minutes would have been too long or something....

I agree. I liked the movie, but the additional scenes might have helped it.

"1) Medium full body shots of Sidney breaking guitarist's fingers:

- I'm pretty sure that I remember that scene being in the movie.

The scene is in the movie, but that shot and that dialogue are not.

I got the dvd early last week, most if not all of the scenes you mentioned are on the dvd, whether it's in the movie or in the special features. For Instance, before the opening credits there is a short scene, In the 2nd alternate ending is the scene with Charlie and Vic talking at a bar. There are a lot of extra things.

That's not really uncommon (stuff being in a trailer but not making the final cut). Editors are working up until the last minute in some cases, whereas a trailer will be in theaters for months prior to the release. If the scenes in the trailer aren't crucial and don't affect anything major, it's just a waste of time and money to re-edit a 2 minute trailer.

suprisngly, the cut bar scene was used in promo photos a lot.
